Overview
Day 1: Windhoek – Okonjima (300km) (BLD) (Camping) Depart from Windhoek and continue north.We aim to arrive at Okonjima during the middle afternoon. Okonjima is the home of the Africat Foundation. Afternoon guided tour to see some cheetah and the Africat rehabilitation programme. Camping under the stars. Day 2: Okonjima – Etosha National Park (300km) (BLD) (Camping) An early start and continuing north to Namutoni camp in Etosha National Park. During the cool of the late afternoon for our first game drive. After your evening meal there are still more chances to see Etosha’s big game at Namutoni’s floodlit waterhole. Day 3: Etosha National Park (Full Day Game Drive) (BLD) (Camping) A full day’s game driving. Along the way we visit several waterholes before continuing to Okaukuejo. Okaukuejo is famous for its waterhole, which has been described as one of the “best game viewing opportunities in Southern Africa” Day 4: Okaukuejo – Grootberg area (310km) (BLD) (Camping) Leaving Etosha we begin our journey south to the Grootberg region. Within this area we visit a Himba Village – the only traditionally functioning Himba community outside the far north Kaokoland region of Namibia From here it is a short drive on to The Hoada Community Campsite.We overnight – camping under the stars. Day 5: Grootberg area – Twyfelfontein (190 km) (BLD) (Camping) Today we head into one of the most beautiful desert regions in Namibia, Damaraland. Also visiting the ancient Bushman rock engravings at Twyfelfontein. Overnight camping in the area. Day 6: Twyfelfontein – Swakopmund, Skeleton Coast (420 km) (BL) (Chalet) Depart from Twyfelfontein area, and continue to the coast of Namibia. Visiting the Cape Cross Seal Reserve en route. The next destination is Swakopmund.. We aim to arrive in the late afternoon giving us time to explore the town on foot before sunset. Day 7: Today is a free day. Lunch and dinner today is not included in the price of the safari and will be for the client’s own account Day 8: Swakopmund – Sesriem area (300 km) (BLD) (Camping) We first make a stop at Walvis Bay. Our next stop, the tiny town of Solitaire. We aim to arrive at our camp during the late afternoon and watch the colours glow and change on distant mountains to the east. Day 9: Sesriem – Sossusvlei (Camping) (BLD) Early morning start. Visiting Dune 45, Sossusvlei and Deadvlei. As the day cools off in the late afternoon we will take a short excursion to the Sesriem Canyon. Day 10: After breakfast we head back to Windhoek. Arrive back in Windhoek in the late afternoon.
