Overview
Limited to 15 people, this 2-hour, small-group tour is the ideal way to discover Vienna’s classical sights — as well as its hidden-away gems. Meet your guide at Maria-Theresien-Platz, one of the city’s pretty public squares, and embark on a memorable sightseeing and history tour. First, admire the museums that border Maria-Theresien-Platz before going for a walk along the famous Ring Road: the boulevard that encircles the historic city center. As you go, admire the grand Austrian Parliament Building and the Neo-Gothic Town Hall. The tour continues through the Volksgarten rose garden, to Heroes Square and past the Hofburg Palace, once home to the country’s Habsburg rulers. Next, venture to sights like the Burggarten — previously the Emperor’s private garden — and its Imperial Butterfly House, before heading to the Augustinian Church, where Napoleon wed archduchess Marie Louise. As you go, your guide will tell you fascinating stories about the city’s regal past. From there, you’ll see more of the city’s landmarks, from the Vienna State Opera to the elegant shopping street of Graben, before venturing to St. Stephen’s Cathedral. The city’s most famous landmark and its geographical center, the cathedral is also where the tour concludes.
