Mount Etna is one of Sicily’s must-see attractions and this half-day, small group tour is one of the best ways to discover the active volcano up close. Led by a local guide, you’ll trek through some of Etna’s incredible geological features, while learning stories about the volcano’s tempestuous history.
After hotel pick-up (upon request) at 8:30am, this 6-hour tour begins with a leisurely walk through Mount Etna’s volcanic fields, covering tracks where ash and lava once freely flowed. Wander through extinct craters and discover cooled lava flows.
On the next stage of the tour, you’ll have a glimpse at the volcanic underground with a journey through one of Mount Etna’s lava caves, small formations that are the legacy of past eruptions. Flashlights and helmets will be provided to help you chart the dark cavern.
After the excitement of the walking tour concludes, venture back down 1700 meters to a chalet on the slopes of Mount Etna, where you can enjoy a restorative Sicilian sandwich, local wine, cake, and an almond wine taster for dessert. The tour ends with a drop-off to your hotel.
Hotel pickups commence prior to this time, you must contact the local service provider to verify your exact pickup time.
