Make your way to TaipeiEYE, a formal theater located on a tree-lined boulevard in the old cultural center of Taipei. Renowned for its traditional Chinese opera and other local performing arts, TaipeiEYE offers a selection of programs, depending on the season. In addition to traditional opera, the shows incorporate martial arts, puppetry, folklore, and Taiwanese
aboriginal dance and music. (See details in Itinerary for show descriptions.)
Before and after the show, and during the intermission, the artists interact with the audience. Peek into an open makeup room for a glimpse, or gather for a photo opportunity as costumed performers bustle into the foyer.
After you take your seat, look around at the visually stunning venue, whose walls are decorated with photographs, puppets and colorful costumes. When the curtain goes up, admire the versatility of the performers on stage as they combine vocals, music, dance, acrobatics and other theatrics to entertain. You’ll be riveted for 90 minutes as the spectacle unfolds before you.
