This tour will start from the beautiful Basilica of St. Domenico, where the sacred relic of the head of St. Catherine (patron saint of the city) is preserved. Then continue to visit the city and its noble dwellings.
Make an obligatory stop in Piazza del Campo, with its distinct shell shape. It is renowned worldwide for its beauty and architectural integrity. The square is surrounded by Palazzo Pubblico and the Torre del Mangia on one side, and by Fonte Gaia at the other. The square is also known as Palio square, because the historical horse race that is held here twice a year, on July 2 and August 16.
Cross medieval narrow streets to reach the beautiful Duomo, with its exterior constructed of white and greenish-black marble in alternating stripes, with the addition of red marble on the façade. Black and white are the symbolic colors of Siena, linked to the black and white horses of the legendary city's founders, Senius and Aschius.
