We meet at the San Francisco Ferry Building at the foot of Market Street at 9:30AM then explore this bustling urban marketplace that features some of the best food artisan products from around Northern California. We stroll the busy Embarcadero to the Exploratorium's outdoor exhibits then continue on to the Levi Strauss Museum, where we see the collection of vintage Levis products and learn about the company's roots in the San Francisco Gold Rush. From Levi's Plaza, we ascend the steep and historic Filbert St. steps to hidden gardens and iconic Coit Tower, where we take a look at the fascinating 1930s-era murals in the tower's lobby. Descending to the streets of North Beach, we pass by authentic Italian bakeries and cafes, visit the haunts of the Beat-era writer and poets and take a break for a slice (included in tour fee) of world-famous Tony's pizza. After our pizza snack, we check out a Diego Rivera mural at the San Francisco Art Institute. before descending to Fisherman's Wharf and historic Aquatic Park. We end our adventure at the San Francisco Maritime National Park's Visitors center across near the collection of historic ships at the Hyde St. Pier.
