Overview
We depart on a transfer bus for a day in Landmannalaugar at 7:30 am from Harpa concert hall in downtown Reykjavik. We drive along the south coast and stop briefly in three villages to pick up passengers. Landmannalaugar is one of the most popular hiking destinations in Iceland because of its unique and magnificent landscapes and the natural geothermal pool. We drive by the roots of Mt. Hekla, Iceland’s most active volcano and stop for six hours in Landmannalaugar that gives plenty of time to hike on your own and take a rewarding bath in the natural pool. The bus tour is unguided but there is a bus attendant on board. Hiking maps and facility access bracelets are sold on the bus. Remember to bring your bathing suit and a towel if you are going into the pool, they are not available for rent. We recommend bringing a generous lunch pack but some refreshments can be bought at the Mountain Mall café that is in an old school bus. Arrival back in Reykjavik is between 10:30-11:00 pm.
