Meet your guide in Lisbon’s pretty Jardim Afonso de Albuquerque in either the morning or afternoon (depending on the option you've chosen), then head along the city streets to begin your tour. One of Europe’s oldest cities, Lisbon is a place where rich history and contemporary culture collide.
Follow your guide through Lisbon and take in key sites of interest including the UNESCO World Heritage–listed Jerónimos Monastery and the Discoveries Monument — nestled on the bank of the Tagus River estuary in honor of Portugal’s brave explorers and seafarers. Along the way, gain insight into the Age of Exploration — the period during the 15th and 16th centuries when Portuguese explorers were considered among the most accomplished in the world.
During your tour, visit the Pastéis de Belém — a local pastry shop — and admire the diverse sweet treats on offer. Here, perhaps sample one of the pastries (at own expense) and gain insight into the flavors the locals love.
After three hours strolling the streets of Lisbon, conclude your tour beneath the 16th-century UNESCO World Heritage–listed Belém Tower.
