Even those that have never visited Peru are familiar with its profoundly rich cultural heritage and the amazing Inca Empire. The astonishingly long history of the Andean culture is brought forth and center in this tour, which, includes, but goes well beyond just visiting the famous sites such as the Machu Picchu. You'll be able to immerse into all aspects of the Andean culture as well as learn about one of the most important ways the indigenous people of the Andes carried on knowledge without a written word, by weaving iconography. Beautiful landscapes will be enjoyed on a horseback ride, while unique activities like salt harvesting, llama trekking and cooking lesson hosted by a local family make this a truly outstanding experience. Day 1: Arrival to Lima
Upon arrival, you'll be welcome at the airport and transferred to your hotel. A representative will give you a documentation kit with detailed program explanation. Luggage and hotel registration assistance is offered.

Day 2: Colonial and Modern Lima Tour, Bohemian District of Barranco (B) (D)
The tour begins with a drive to historic downtown Lima, also known as “the City of the Kings” and an UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site. Stops include the Main Square of Lima, upon which sits the Government Palace, the Cathedral, the Archbishop’s Palace, and the City Hall; next on the itinerary is a visit to the Santo Domingo Convent. Once finished there, it’s off to the modern district of San Isidro and then to another famous district, Miraflores, with a stop at the “Parque del Amor” (a sort of lover’s lane) and its incredible view of the Pacific Ocean. By night discover the bohemian district of Barranco and its traditional Bridge of Sighs. Enjoy a delicious buffet dinner and spectacular show in the restaurant “La Dama Juana”, which features the most important manifestations of dances, music and Peruvian folklore.

Day 3: Flight to Cusco - Sacred Valley: Sarapampa, Corn Farm House (B) (L)
At schedule time, you'll be transferred to the airport to board the flight to Cusco city. Upon arrival in Cusco you will be met by a representative and transferred to the Sacred Valley. You'll head to Hacienda Sarapampa and learn how corn influenced the Andean people and those who followed during colonial and recent times. Corn is one of the oldest domesticated crops that has accompanied the Andean people since their establishment in the region. Peruvian corns boasts a variety of shapes, sizes, colors and culinary uses like no other region of the world. Then, you'll have a delicious 7-course lunch based on both indigenous ingredients and cuisines brought in during colonial times. You'll also Enjoy a spectacular Peruvian Paso Horse Exhibition during lunch.

Day 4: Andean Community of Misminay - Agricultural Seminar and Astronomy Lecture (L) (D)
Enjoy a nice 3 hour horse back ride through the exceptional Andes Landscape. Upon arrival to the community of Misminay you will be receive by the locals and enjoy a nice pic nic and a nice meal: Fresh from grove to Table. After lunch learn the agricultural techniques used by locals from Inca Times. Afterwards you will witness one of the most important rituals made by all people from the Andes: An offering to the Mother Earth. By night you will have a nice Astronomy Lecture.
Overnight in Homestay in Misminay

Day 5: Mountain bike to the circular terraces of Moray - Salt Harvest at Maras Salt Mines (B) (L)
Begin a beautiful mountain bike adventure. You will descend to the archaeological complex of Moray that consists of several enormous terraced circular depressions used by the Incas as an agricultural laboratory. You will continue the tour to the village of Maras and then you will continue to the salt mines of Maras, where salt was mined for thousands of years ago and is still done today. Help the locals to harvest the Salt. After the tour you will be transferred to your hotel.

Overnight in Sacred Valley

Day 6: Llama Trek (B) (L) (D)
Departure from the hotel driving to Patacancha, a Quechua village known for its skilled weavers and our meeting point with the llama drivers. You will get to know the animals and then head out through the valley on a trail used daily by the community inhabitants. It will take us an hour and a half of walking to reach Huilloc, another community famous for its expert weavers, whose traditional outfits are called “Huayruros”. This is also the home of the llama drivers, and while in the village you will learn about the community way of life. Afterwards, we continue our trek to Pumamarca, a small Incan archeological site, mainly of terraced hillsides, where we will rest and enjoy our lunch. The final leg of the trek, an hour and a half long, takes us to Ollantaytambo, but you first we must pass through the small town of Munaypata.  From Ollantaytambo we will board the train to Machu Picchu.

Overnight in Machu Picchu

Day 7: Huayna Picchu and Machu Picchu (B) (L)
You will have the morning to visit Machu Picchu and to climb to the top of Mount Huayna Picchu (2490 meters), Quechua for “Young Mountain”, on the eastern side of the Central Cordillera. The trail is steep and parts of it include several section of stone staircases carved directly into the mountainside. After the Huayna Picchu hike you will visit Machu Picchu archaeological site, where you will definitely have an experience you will never forget. The tour, led by an expert guide, includes every nook and cranny of this New 7 Wonder of the World; afterwards, there is some free time for you to explore the site on your own, to relax, or to meditate. At the agreed upon hour, you will descend to Aguas Calientes and, later on, board the train for your return trip; you will stop at the Ollantaytambo Station and be picked up and driven to your hotel.

Day 8: Culinary Experience with a Cusco Local Family (B) (L)
You will be transferred to the local market of San Pedro, where you will find diverse local products such as different varieties of potatoes, corn, peppers, fruits, spices, among others. Then you will be transferred to the home of a local family, where you will learn how to cook three typical dishes and then enjoy a nice lunch. Afternoon at leisure.

Overnight in Cusco

Day 9: Departure (B)
At the scheduled time, you'll be transferred to the airport to board your flight back to Lima where you will make the international connection back home.
