The walls and the ceiling of the Mahal are covered with a beautiful array of mirrors, which reflects any streaks of light to illuminate the entire room.
After, enjoy a photo tour of the Rajput style Water Palace that sits in the center of the Man Sarobar lake. The lake is often dry in the summer but the winter monsoons return it to a paradise filled with water hyacinths. The next photo location is the Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds). Built in 1799, the palace is a major Rajput landmark. This five-storied building is a pink sandstone masterpiece with semi-octagonal and delicately honeycombed windows. The monument was originally conceived with the aim of enabling ladies of the royal household to watch the everyday life and royal processions in the city in absolute privacy.
Take a break at midday to have lunch at one of the best local restaurants in the area. A vegetarian option is available.
After lunch, visit the royal residence of the erstwhile King of Jaipur names City palace, Built using a blend of Rajasthani and Mughal styles, the palace has carved arches and intricately crafted columns. Two carved marble elephants guard the entrance. The palace also houses a museum with a superb collection of Rajasthani costumes.
After the palace visit, head to the largest of Jai Singh's five remarkable open-air stone observatories. It has complex instruments, and its setting and shapes are scientifically designed to represent the high point of medieval Indian astronomy. The most striking of these are the Ram Yantras used for gauging altitudes. You may discover that Jaipur is an excellent place to shop, featuring an enticing variety of goods available there.
