This morning at 0830 hours , you will be picked up from your city hotel and taken for a full day excursion to the ancient towns of Abhaneri and Bhangarh. Your guide will tell you about the interesting stories of the historic towns. On arrival at Abhaneri, visit one of India's deepest and largest step wells (or “baolis”) which are unique to India. They were used as pools for ritual cleansing before a temple visit and as a water supply for dry weather. Also, visit the small and significant temple near to the stepwell. Continue for an Indian lunch at a local restaurant, after which you will be driven to the ruins of Bhangarh, north-west of Jaipur. The beautiful ruins have the distinction of being the most haunted in India. Founded around 1573 by the Mughal ruler Bhagwant Das as a residence for his son Madho Singh, Bhangarh was later abandoned after an attack in 1720 by the army of Jai Singh II and a famine in 1783. Today, your guide will take you through the original streets, featuring shops along the main road, havelis, a mosque and palace. Later, you will be driven back to your hotel in Jaipur.
