Day 1: Transfer Iquitos - Jungle Lodge & Activities in the Amazon Jungle (L/D) Please arrive to Iquitos before 9:00 am today. Transfer from the airport arrivals lounge to Iquitos (or hotel to the office) for shopping and last-minute coordination. Transfer to the port for a fast 3-hour boat ride upriver from Iquitos on the Amazon River. Upon arrival, get settled in to your lodge and enjoy lunch. Afterwards, go on the Leoncito Hike, where you appreciate the immense variety of flora around the lodge. On this walk you can taste the water that Uncaria tomentosa (cat's claw) has within its vines - some say it can cure cancer and AIDS. You'll also be amazed at how huge the ceiba tree is. In addition, you will see the world's smallest monkey, the pigmy marmoset, and the squirrel and tamarin monkeys. If you're lucky, you'll see the howler monkey, whose deafening roar can be heard many miles away. After watching a sunset over the forest of mirrors head back to Muyuna for dinner. In the evening, take a boat ride to see caimans, nocturnal birds and mammals. Day 2: Activities in the Amazon Jungle (B/L/D) Enjoy breakfast and then crusie the Amazon River, where you will experience the most magical moment of your trip, which is to swim in the same river where the pink and gray dolphins live. You can see them, but don't expect to touch. On the way back to the lodge, you will see the biggest aquatic plant in the world, the famous Victoria Regia. It is also easy to see iguanas. Enjoy lunch at the lodge before going on a boat trip to the lakes Purura and Corrientes to catch different kinds of fish, including the famous piranha (being more difficult in March, April and May). After lunch, spot wild animals before taking your boat back to Iquitos. Go on a night walk in search of huge frogs, anaconda´s favorite food. In addition to seeing tarantulas, it is worth clarifying that despite their bad reputation, they are not dangerous to humans. Day 3: Activities in the Amazon Jungle & Return to Iquitos (B/L) After breakfast, go for a boat trip to Lake Sapote to see different birds like parrots, jacanas, kingfishers, herons, panguanas, partridges, pigeons, cormorants, horned screamers, orneros and then move to the other end of the Moena lagoon to see sloths and monkeys, squirrels and dusky titi monkeys, etc. After watching a sunset over the forest of mirrors, head back to the lodge for dinner. In the evening, enjoy a boat ride to see caimans, nocturnal birds and mammals. Have lunch and then with the help of your guide, you will be able to count all the animals seen on your Animal Check List. Your experience of the jungle comes to an end and you will cruise three hours back to Iquitos and be dropped off at your hotel or the airport. Please plan to fly out of Iquitos after 6pm.
