Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City - Cai Be (L, D)
Meet a driver at your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City for the drive into the Mekong Delta, where you'll make the first stop of the day at Cai Be Market. Board a boat and join the throng of vendors and barges at the floating market as locals buy and sell their goods. Following your time at the floating market, pause for lunch at a local house.
After lunch, head farther into the countryside on a rowboat ride through the smaller canals, the perfect way to see the most peaceful side of Delta life. You'll pass houses made from wood and palm leaves, fishermen catching fish, and farmers picking fruit at the edge of the canal. Stop to visit the nursery garden of Mr. Tiger, one of the most successful men in the Vietnamese agriculture industry, then taste some local fruits and tea as you listen to traditional music at the homestay.
In the afternoon, stretch your legs on a bike ride through the village paths, setting a leisurely pace to enjoy the scenic landscape. Returning to the homestay, join the owner to cook some traditional dishes, then sit down to dinner with a cup of tea or rice wine. Overnight stay in a private room at the homestay.
Day 2: Cai Be - Vinh Long - Ho Chi Minh City (B, L)
Start the day with a delicious Vietnamese breakfast before taking a morning walk in the village. Keep exploring by boat on a trip to some local brick kilns, where you'll learn the process behind the region's distinctive clay pottery.
Continue downstream to a floating village and catfish farm, then explore the local market at Vinh Long, a colorful spot to see daily life unfold. Following your time at Vinh Long, begin the return trip to Ho Chi Minh City, where this tour concludes at the original departure point.
