Day 1: Hanoi to Lao Cai
A driver will meet your for transfer to the Hanoi train station to catch an evening train to Lao Cai, with an overnight on the train.
Day 2: Lao Cai to Sapa (B, L, D)
Your train will arrive early in the morning at the Lao Cai station, near the Chinese border. Meet a local guide at the station for the scenic, hour-long drive to the hill station of Sapa. From there, continue 30 minutes south to the Muong Hoa Valley, a gorgeous valley with the largest rice field terraces in Sapa.
If your visit is between May and October, the local harvest period, you will have a chance to see the local farmers at work, and the valley is perfect for photography at any time of year. Set out on foot from the Black H'mong Lao Cai village to the Ta Van village of the Giay people with a stop at a local Catholic Church along the way. As you walk, you'll learn about the different traditions, cultures, and customs of each group.
At the end of the day, head to a hotel to freshen up, then transfer to Lao Cai station for the evening train back to Ha Noi, with an overnight on the train.
Day 3: Arrival in Hanoi (B,L)
You will arrive at Hanoi train station early in the morning, and a driver will meet you for return transfer to your hotel.
