Day 1 – Reed Flute Cave and Elephant Trunk Hill Park (No meals)
The tour guide will meet you at Guilin Liangjing Airport and bring your directly to the see Guilin's top attractions.
The first one will be the Reed Flute Cave, a brilliant cave marked on almost all travel itineraries. The cave got its name from the verdant reeds growing outside it with which people make flutes out of. Inside this water-eroded cave is a spectacular world of various stalactites, stone pillars and rock formations created by carbonate deposition. Illuminated by colored lighting, the fantastic spectacle is found in many variations along this 787-foot-long (240-meter-long) cave.
If the time permits, you can also visit the Elephant Trunk Hill (please note it closes at 6:00 p.m.). The Elephant Trunk Hill Park is situated majestically at the southeast of Guilin city and west bank of Li River. It's regarded as the symbol of Guilin landscape. Originally named "Li Hill", "Yi Hill" and "Chenshui Hill", the hill has a history of 3.6 hundred million years. Resembling an elephant leisurely sucking water from the river with its long trunk, this hill is famous as Elephant Trunk Hill for hundreds of years.
After this we will bring you back to your hotel with the rest of the day on your own arrangement.
Accommodation: On your own in Guilin (downtown area) - not included in tour price
Day 2 – Lijiang River Cruise and Yangshuo (L)
A cruise along the Li River is a truly unforgettable experience. As you take in the stunning scenery there’s something interesting to see at almost every bend in the river. Many of the karst formations are, with a little imagination, reminiscent of animals and objects, with names such as Elephant Trunk Hill, Sword Cut Cliff, and Reclining Flower Vase Hill. Between these spectacular limestone peaks you’ll see graceful bamboo groves, farmers tending rice paddies, and lumbering water buffaloes pulling carts or cooling off in the river. You may also see fishermen gliding along on their narrow bamboo rafts, and if you’re very lucky you might see one of the famous fishing cormorants.
Once in Yangshuo, you will have some time to stop at the ‘World’s Biggest Market’ to pick up some things for yourself or souvenirs for friends or family. Then your guide will take you to have a walk along the West Street. This is a tiny S-shaped street running through the street which is mainly inhabited by foreigners now, hence its name. The street itself has over 1,400 years of history, when there were only a few grocery stores on the street. Currently, it is one of the mixing pots of traditional, modern, and foreign culture.
Afterwards we will bring you to your hotel in downtown Yangshuo or Guilin with the rest of the day on your own arrangement.
