In Turks and Caicos, conch is a staple of local cuisine and
tasty dishes can be found on menus throughout the islands. Now you
get to see how this delicacy is gathered and prepared!
Start your small-group conch diving adventure at White Sand Beach where you meet your guide. After a safety briefing and overview of the trip ahead, your guide welcomes you on the boat for a 15-minute ride to a prime conch-diving location.
En route, your boat cruises by Gibbs Cay, Round Cay, Long Cay and Cotton Cay. Stop at one of the cays to snorkel in the relatively shallow water, and learn how to dive for conch. Bob around in the warm waters as your guide instructs you on how to dive a shallow reef with your snorkel gear. Feel free to ask any questions during the tour; your guide is happy to help first-timers learn.
Colorful fish bustle around you in the warm Caribbean water as you peek through sea grass to look for conch that typically hide behind behind its sinewy blades.
After snorkeling and conch diving, hop back in your boat and cruise over to the soft sandy beach of Gibbs Cay. Here your guide demonstrates how to remove the conch from its shell and prepare it for eating. Wrap up your excursion with a snack of freshly prepared conch salad — a classic Caribbean treat!
At the end of your 90-minute tour, you are returned to White Sand Beach.
