For your Chamonix and Mont Blanc day trip, choose from the tour options below.

Itinerary

Chamonix Village
Chamonix is a picturesque alpine town dominated by the Alps mountains and glaciers rising majestically upwards to Mont-Blanc, the highest mountain of Europe. A 90-minute drive by bus through the picturesque Arve Valley takes you from Geneva to Chamonix. Enjoy free day in the famous village of Chamonix with its little streets full of charm and admire the Alps. Chamonix Mont Blanc has been at the sharp end of Alpine adventure since 1760, when a Genevois scientist offered a prize for the first ascent of the highest Alp. It had its first growth spurt in the Victorian era, hosted the first Winter Olympics in 1924 and has re-emerged on the freeride wave as the capital of all-mountain skiing. This steep-sided valley, draped with tumbling glaciers beneath a crown of rocky spires, is where snowsports and mountaineering meet. With Chamonix being renowned as the world capital of alpinism, freeride skiing, ice climbing and ultra-trail running, this busy little town is a popular place for day trippers. Lots of boutiques sell local product such as cheese, meats, or fresh savoie honey.

Chamonix including Aiguille du Midi Cable Car
Ride up the cable car and discover a spectacular panoramic view of the Chamonix Valley and the French, Swiss and Italian Alps. On a clear day, you may even see Mattherhorn, the famous Swiss peak and icon of Switzerland – it’s even found on packages of delicious Toblerone chocolate.
Enjoy free time at the top to soak up the views on the different terraces. From its height of 3,777m, the Aiguille du Midi and its laid-out terraces offer a 360° view of all the French, Swiss and Italian Alps. A lift brings you to the summit terrace at 3,842m, where you will have a clear view of Mont Blanc.

Discover the pipe: a long steel gallery of 32m to make the full rotation of the central peak of the Aiguille du Midi.

If it’s open, you can try the "Step into the Void" adventure, a glass room built around a metal frame. Three glass walls, floor and ceiling panels, allow visitors to experience 1035 meters of space under their feet.

Afterward, meet your guide at a pre-arranged time and travel back down into the heart of Chamonix town center. Browse the shops at your leisure, perhaps enjoy a refreshing drink on a sun-drenched terrace in town (own expense) and admire the many chocolate-box chalets and boutiques you find.

Chamonix with Cable Car and mountain train to Glacier Mer de Glace
Hop aboard the scenic cable car and travel to the summit of the Aiguille du Midi and enjoy free time at the top. Discover a spectacular panoramic view of the Chamonix Valley and the French, Swiss, and Italian Alps. In the afternoon, board the charming red cog railway up to Montenvers, where you’ll enjoy fabulous views of Mer de Glace. This magnificent glacier is 4 miles (7km) long and averages just under a mile wide. Surrounded by the impressive summits of Les Drus, Les Grandes Jorasses, and Les Grands Charmoz, The Montenvers site is a natural living witness of climate change of our era. It offers several visits including the crystal gallery or the Glaciorium, a new space entirely dedicated to the glaciers from their birth, to present, and to the future. Depending on the period, it is also possible to visit the ice caves carved into the Glacier.
