Over the millennia, sand drifting from mainland Australia formed Fraser Island. Known as K’Gari—paradise—in the local Aboriginal language, the island boasts an incredibly diverse landscape with sandy beaches, giant sand dunes, lush rainforest and more than 100 lakes. Your Fraser Island hiking experience includes camping equipment such as a tent, hiking backpack and cooking gear, plus maps, itineraries, permits, and return 4WD and barge transfers that take you from Hervey Bay to the starting point on Fraser Island for the self-guided hike. You will receive a full safety briefing and information about what to expect on your Fraser Island hiking adventure. All you need to bring is your personal gear and food for your trip. The hiking trails call for a moderate level of fitness, so come prepared.
