Overview
Your personal driver will collect you (or your group of up to four people) from your hotel at 9am in a private, air-conditioned car equipped with mineral water and soft drinks. Your first stop is Katara, Qatar's cultural village, that's home to an amphitheater, an opera house, a theater, two mosques, and landscaped gardens. Explore at your own pace before you drive to the Pearl, a manmade island sculpted from sand into the shape of an oyster. Camel racing is an ancient sport in the Arabian desert – although today robot jockeys have replaced the child jockeys of old. You'll drive out into the desert for an hour or so to the Al Shahaniya Camel Racetrack, where you may be lucky enough to see the beasts being put through their paces: a sprinting camel can reach speed of up to 40 mph (65 kph). Discover more of Qatar's heritage at the vast Sheikh Faisal Museum, home to a private collection of 15,000 artifacts that enshrine the nation’s history. You'll enjoy an included lunch at local restaurant. After having lunch your next destination will be at the Museum of Islamic Arts. A world-class museum that's home to Islamic arts, crafts, textiles, ceramics, and jewelry dating back up to 1400 years, it's a great spot to immerse in Arab culture. Finally, a quick tour at the traditional Souq Waqif to see different crafts they are offering as a souvenir. Your driver will drop you back at your hotel at 5pm.
