Like most regions in Italy, the island’s cuisine has been influenced by its past and its people. Greek, Roman, French, and Spanish rulers all featured in Capri’s history; today, Hollywood darlings visit it on holidays, bringing cosmopolitan glamor to the island. These influences, teamed with the abundance of fresh seafood, have made their mark on the food you find in Capri.
Roll up your sleeves to create a typical Capri meal. Using generations-old recipes and the help of your chef, you’ll create Insalata Caprese, a simple, yet delicious, signature dish of tomato, buffalo mozzarella, and basil. Follow up the salad with fresh pasta, made from scratch. Mix, roll, and fold the dough to make a local ravioli dish. Finally, make Torta Caprese (an almond and chocolate cake), which is named after the island.
Finish on a high note as you sit down with the rest of your group to eat. Chat about the food and your creations as you sip on wine and relax. Before you leave, take a copy of the recipes so you can cook the dishes back at home.
