Overview

Day 1: Cape Town - Oudtshoorn
Leave Cape Town early morning for the scenic journey to Oudtshoorn. Leave the silhouette of Table Mountain behind and trade it for the lush green scenery of the Garden Route.
Your first encounter with wildlife is about 4-hours away from Cape Town and the journey includes rest and photo stops.
Start with a ± 2,5 hour safari game drive at Botlierskop private game reserve and from the safety of an open-top 4x4 vehicle, the ranger points out wildlife as he searches for most of the Big Five animals (Lion, Elephant, Buffalo, Rhino) in the 3500ha private game reserve – located in a malaria-free zone. It's home to an abundance of wildlife including giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, rare black impala and more than 200 bird species.
Just when you thought your bush experience couldn’t get any better, hop off the safari vehicle for a tranquil bush walk, following your game ranger as you track wildlife through the coastal renosterveldt and Cape fynbos.
After a short ±1-hour journey you'll reach Oudtshoorn and Buffelsdrift Game Lodge - an unexpected oasis that wows from the first glimpse. In the heart of the Klein Karoo, luxe canvas tents are decked out with all the creature comforts including a beautiful claw-footed bath, rustic outdoor shower and the most inviting king-sized bed. Wooden balconies overlook the dam where hippos wallow languidly in the glassy water. On the horizon line, giraffes snack on the tops of tall trees as the sun dips below the horizon.  Take in the calm veld surrounds by lounging at the pool deck amongst giant aloe vera, framing your perfect view of birds and game that visit the water's edge at sunset.
Overnight in Oudtshoorn at 4-star Buffelsdrift Lodge
Day 2: Oudtshoorn to Cape Town (B)
After breakfast, jump straight back into the thick of the Klein Karoo bush to find even more wildlife as you set out on another 4x4 safari  (1,5 hours) to search for white rhino, buffalo, elephant, kudu, zebra, wildebeest - just to name a few.
Those seeking a meaningful elephant experience can join rangers on an optional Elephant Bush Walk (own expense). You’ll have the opportunity to meet three rescued elephants during their morning walk alongside the watering hole. Under the watchful eye of your guide, walk with these gentle giants as you learn about their background and behaviour.
End off the day with a drive back to Cape Town along Route 62, the longest wine route in the world! Capture the beauty of high mountains, twisting passes, rugged Karoo plains before arriving in Cape Town by late evening.
Accommodation is subject to availability - we can only inform you soon after booking confirmation if tents are available.
