You will be picked up at approximately 8:30am from your Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront or city hotel. You travel along the N1 towards Klapmuts for approximately half an hour before you reach the tranquil Spice Route. Once there, you kick the tour off with the perfect cup of coffee made from DV Café's small batches of their own roasted beans. You stroll over to Red Hot Glass, a world-class glassblowing studio to witness this fine art and where you are able to purchase some beautiful pieces. After seeing melting glass, it is time for chocolate to melt in your mouth. DV Artisan Chocolate factory is housed in an old Cape Dutch home and will be your host.

A short meander through this beautiful wine area brings you to The Franschhoek Motor Museum. Across the length and breadth of Southern Africa, only this museum can adequately portray the evolution of the automobile. The museum’s collection exceeds 220 vehicles – ranging from a tiny 1898 Beeston motor tricycle to a monster 2016 Mercedes Benz G63 AMG 6X6. There are only 80 vehicles on display at a time.

You will spend about an hour here and if you are not interested in cars, you can stroll around the gardens and enjoy refreshments.

After a 10-minute drive further into the Franschhoek Valley, you arrive at La Motte Wine Estate. You will partake in a cellar tour and tasting of these multiple award winning wines. You are welcome to browse through the La Motte Museum. One of South Africa's greatest master artists, Jacob Hendrik Pierneef's work can be seen here. (Museum is closed on Mondays.)

Choose to either have lunch at Leopards Leap Estate or at Tuk Tuk Microbrewery. Tuk Tuk Microbrewery on the main road of Franschhoek Village is a beautiful quaint microbrewery. Here you can sip on some craft beer or you can explore and/or shop at some of the small shops or see sights in the village.

After lunch, head over Hellshoogte pass and descend into the world-famous Stellenbosch where you will see some of the oldest Cape Dutch houses in the country. The R44 awaits with a choice of another wine estate or micro brewery for you to do a tasting. De Grendel, 20 kilometers from the city center will be your last stop for the day. De Grendel with it's breathtaking view of Table Mountain from the farm, 350 meters above sea level, is arguably the best in the Cape winelands. On a clear day, you can see all the way from Table Bay to False Bay, and sometimes even on to Cape Point. Enjoy a glass or two here before being dropped off at your hotel around 5pm.
