Overview

Day 1: Bucharest – Curtea de Arges – Cozia – Sibiu

Your tour begins with a pick-up from your Bucharest hotel. Board the air-conditioned private vehicle and depart Bucharest for Curtea de Arges, about two hours northwest.

Visit the Curtea de Arges Monastery, built by the ruler of Wallachia, Neagoe Basarab, in 1514 and representing a significant architectural monument in Romanian culture. The tour continues with a visit to Cozia Monastery, erected between 1386 and1388, by the ruler Mircea the Elder.

Next, have lunch, at your own expense, in a traditional Romanian restaurant. In the afternoon head to the city of Sibiu for a walking tour of the old town.

In the evening enjoy a traditional dinner (not included) and overnight accommodation in Sibiu.

Day 2: Sibiu – Biertan – Sighisoara – Brasov

After breakfast in Sibiu, depart for the village of Biertan to visit the biggest fortified church in Transylvania. The fortified church of Biertan is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The next visit is to the medieval citadel of Sighisoara, the only still-inhabited medieval citadel in Europe and also UNESCO listed. Take a walking tour of the citadel and visit inside the Clock Tower. A traditional Romanian lunch inside the citadel follows (additional cost).

In the afternoon, your tour guide takes you to Brasov and to another beautiful medieval citadel, Kronstadt from 1254. On a walking tour of the old town you can admire the Black Church, Catherine's Gate, and the Council Square.

Your day ends with a traditional dinner at your own expense, and overnight accommodations in Brasov.

Day 3: Brasov – Btan – Sinaia – Bucharest

Right after breakfast at your hotel in Brasov, visit the city's most important site, the Black Church, built in 1383. Later your tour guide takes you to Bran's (Dracula) Castle, a Romanian landmark, followed by a traditional lunch at your own expense.

After lunch, head for the mountain resort of Sinaia to visit Peles Castle, built by the first king of Romania, Carol the First.

The final visit is to the Sinaia Monastery before driving back to Bucharest, where you are dropped off back at your hotel.
