Colombia has the greatest avian biodiversity in the world, it is the home to 1,900 species (more or less 20% of all the birds on Earth). 197 species of migratory birds are also temporary residents.
Bogotá is located in a very privileged area for birds, well the city’s location is a broad plateau within the Easter Cordillera of the Andes at about 2,600 meters above sea level. One of the greatest advantages of the capital’s location is that you do not need to go far away from the city to get a sight of some wonderful endemic species, as a matter of fact you may even see many of them within the city.
