Meet your host and fellow passengers on board your gulet, a small sailing boat with 16 number of cabins, each with their own bathroom. Pint-sized yet pristine, the gulet boasts a below-deck saloon bar and dining area, as well as a spacious sun deck, that’s perfect for sunbathing on as you cruise around the Aegean Sea.
Besides your first and last nights in the chic town of Bodrum, the rest of your cruise is spent exploring the islands and villages dotted around the Gulf of Gökova, between the Bodrum and Datça peninsulas. The area is widely untouched by tourism with incredible unspoiled scenery and ancient ruins just waiting to be discovered.
How you spend your time when your gulet is docked is up to you. Stops at the best bays and islands for swimming or diving are factored in to your route, and you’ll stay anchored each night in quiet fishing villages or secluded coves. Optional excursions, designed to give you a taste of life in rural Turkey, can be taken on Days 4 and 7. All meals are included on board your boat, but drinks are at your own expense.

Day 1: Bodrum (D)
Board your boat at Bodrum Harbour, and then meet your host over a drink (own expense) in the on-board bar. Your first night is spent docked in Bodrum, so why not make the most of it and head out to explore independently? Famous for its spectacular white-marble Mausoleum, Bodrum is home to sights aplenty: the Castle of St Peters, English Tower and the Mausoleum are just a few of the attractions that can be seen. All entrance fees are at your own expense. Return to your boat in time for dinner, and spend the rest of your evening at leisure.

Overnight: boat docked in Bodrum

Day 2: Bodrum – Orak Island – Çökertme (B, L, D)
Enjoy breakfast as you sail east and hear the finer details about your itinerary from your host. Stop at Orak Island, an olive-grove covered islet halfway between Bodrum and Çökertme, and enjoy some free time to swim. A popular diving site for its crystal-clear waters and sandy beaches, Orak is the perfect place for the first swim of your cruise! Enjoy lunch, and then continue to the picturesque fishing town of Çökertme to dock overnight.

Overnight: boat docked in Çökertme

Day 3: Çökertme – Seven Islands (Yedi Adalar) – English Port (B, L, D)
Cruise away from Çökertme and the Bodrum Peninsula as you eat breakfast, and head further into the waters of the Gulf of Gökova. Aside from Akyaka (the main village), one of the gulf’s stunning highlights is an archipelago known as the Seven Islands, a wild place that’s peppered with tiny islets and coral reefs.

Stop at one of the archipelago’s most scenic spots, Kufre Bay, for lunch, and then anchor at Uzun Liman to swim, dive and walk along its pine-clad coastline. Dock in the late afternoon at a harbor known as the ‘English port,’ and spend the rest of your day and night at leisure. The pretty harbor takes it nickname from its popularity with the British Naval forces during the Second World War. Perhaps enjoy some drinks on deck after dinner and watch the sun set over the picturesque Seven Islands.

Overnight: boat docked at the English port, Seven Islands

Day 4: English Port – Sedir Island – Karacasogut (B, L, D)
Relax over breakfast as you cruise further east from the English port to Sedir Island (Cleopatra’s Island), a place reputed to have the best sand in Turkey. According to local legend, Mark Antony had the sand shipped in from Egypt to please his beloved Cleopatra, who missed her homeland.

After swimming on the beach, continue sailing to Karacasogut village where you’ll dock for the rest of your day. The village is only 16 miles (25km) from the bright lights of Marmaris so, if you’re craving some hustle and bustle, simply hop on a bus to the resort (own expense). Alternatively, enjoy an optional tour to the nearby riverside resort of Dalyan to visit the ancient city of Kaunos, home to impressive cliff-side ruins that date to the Hellenistic period.

Overnight: boat docked in Karacasogut

Day 5: Karacasogut – Longoz Point – Tuzla Bay (B, L, D)
Leave Karacasogut after breakfast and sail east to Longoz Point on the southeast coast of the gulf. The paradisaical bay is sheltered by cedar forests, offering the ideal spot for your morning swim. Follow a leisurely lunch with a walk through the forest to a local cafe – akin to an Ali Baba-style shed – and perhaps try a drink local to the region (own expense).

In the afternoon, sail to Tuzla Bay for more swimming and walking, and then spend the rest of your evening at leisure.

Overnight: boat docked at Tuzla Bay

Day 6: Tuzla Bay – Kargili – Alakisla Buku (B, L, D)
Enjoy breakfast as you set sail for Kargili (Molla Ibrahim Bay). Anchor up for your morning swim, and then continue to Alakisla Buku, another picturesque bay. Laze on deck with a book or take a walk up the hillside to see the crumbling Byzantine ruins at Kisebuku. Spend the rest of your day at leisure.

Overnight: boat docked in Alakisla Buku

Day 7: Alakisla Buku – Pabuç Burnu – Yaliciftlik – Bodrum (B, L, D)
After breakfast, set sail for Pabuç Burnu, known for being the site of a 6th-century shipwreck. Swim around the bay, enjoy lunch, and then continue to Yaliciftlik Bay, near the gorgeous village of Yaliciftlik where time seems to stand still. If you want to learn about local life in this stunning part of Turkey, head out on an optional walking tour of the village at your own expense.

In the late afternoon, return to your boat and sail north to Bodrum. Enjoy your last dinner on board your boat and perhaps visit the town’s bars for a goodbye drink with fellow group members (own expense).
