Traveling with a friendly, professional driver who will also serve as your expert guide, your 2-night tour takes you deep into Jordan, a beautiful country blessed with great archaeological and natural riches. After an overnight stay in Amman on Day 1, explore the rock-hewn city of Petra on Day 2. Then, travel to the Dead Sea for an overnight stay and enjoy time on Day 3 to float in the salt-rich waters and enjoy your hotel’s facilities before your return trip to Amman. A choice of hotel accommodation is available on your tour: choose from Jordan’s tourist-class, prime-class or superior-class hotels, depending on your budget. Breakfast and dinner are included at each hotel and there’s time to enjoy lunch at your own expense at both Petra and the Dead Sea.
Day 1: Amman Queen Alia International Airport – Amman (D) Start your Jordan experience with an airport transfer to your hotel in Amman. Check in, and then enjoy dinner in your hotel. Spend the evening at leisure.
Day 2: Amman – Petra – Dead Sea (B, D) After breakfast and a hotel pickup by your car and driver, travel southward through the stunning desert landscapes to Petra, the rose-hued rock jewel hidden in Jordan’s Shara Mountains; it’s an approximate 3-hour journey.
After a break for lunch (own expense), enjoy a guided walking tour of this spectacular Nabataean city and UNESCO World Heritage site, that was carved into a sandstone gorge more than 2,000 years ago and dominated the trading routes of ancient Arabia. One of the Seven Wonders of the World, this breathtaking city is home to ornate buildings, tombs and carvings and is considered the highlight of any sightseeing trip in Jordan.
Walk along the narrow Siq, the high-walled fissure in the rocks that winds into the heart of the city. Then, stop in your tracks at your first, jaw-dropping glimpse of the Treasury, known locally as El-Khazneh: Petra’s standout sight. Wonder at its intricate façade and hear how movies such as Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade were filmed here. Take photos of this poetically beautiful monument and then continue your tour.
Trace the path further into the gorge to see more of Petra’s stellar sights, including its rock-built theater, which once sat 3,000 spectators, and its cliff-sculpted Royal Tombs. As you walk, listen intently as your knowledgeable guide explains more about the Nabataeans who built the city and carved out their livelihoods here.
Afterward, return to your car and travel on to the Dead Sea. This shimmering inland sea sits at officially the lowest point on Earth, and swimming in its buoyant waters has to be one of the planet’s must-do experiences. After dinner at your hotel, spend the evening at leisure.
Day 3: Dead Sea – Amman (B) Start your day with breakfast at your hotel and then enjoy the rest of the morning and early afternoon to experience the extraordinary Dead Sea and all it offers. Wade into the salt-encrusted waters to feel the surreal floating sensation for yourself, laze on the beach or perhaps indulge in some of the Dead Sea mud- and mineral-enriched spa treatments (own expense) on offer at your hotel.
After lunch (own expense), check out of your hotel at a time dependent on your flight schedule. Then, relax on your journey back towards Amman. Your tour concludes with an airport drop-off at Amman Queen Alia Airport, if required.
